Cofa Frosti Review

The Cofra Frosti took out office by storm earlier this year, a GORE-TEX boot that looks good for under £78.00. Can't ask for more can you?

Well yes, a couple of people requested a GORE-TEX boot which had a composite rather than steel toe cap, lo and behold - the Frosti shoots and scores! Add to that a composite midsole and you've really got a winner on your hands.

So, what are they like on? Well, I was the lucky member of the team to get to try these out so try them out I did. First off some light work around the house (well the removal of a partition wall from upstairs). The boots did well here, comfortable and light weight, easy on and off too.

Tomorrow for a harder test - a 7.5 mile walk in basically new boots - what no brealking in???

7am Sunday Morning: Good for you as it it's absolutely throwing it down, bad for me but on with the waterproofs as the deal is if you get the boots you *have* to put them through their paces (company policy!!). So on with the waterproofs and out with the dogs.

7.30am The foot of Rivington Pike, wind blowing and rain coming in sideways - dog's don't seem to mind though so off we go.

12.25am Back home, me dry the dogs wet but all happy.

Overview - Have to say that I've tried a lot of boots in similar circumstances and I found these to cope admirably. My feet stayed dry and warm the whole time and I put them through quite a bit. What I found really good was the strong sole/tread. A good part of the walk is across cobbles / rubble paths and the strong sole made this pretty effortless. Some of the boots I've tried have had a much softer sole and while this gives you good control in some situations, for walking on tough uneven ground a less flexible sole is prefered. The scuff cap on the front of the boot is a nice addition too, as are the sturdy eyelets for the laces.

"Waterproof" the test for a product to be rated as waterproof was 500 steps in 1cm of water it has now been increased to 1000 steps in 3cm of water, no material can ever be 100% waterproof it will always have some Ingres, if you are working in very wet conditions GORE-TEX lined products will give a better level of protection as they set the standard at 250,000 steps in 5cm of water, or a wellington. Wellingtons are only waterproof to a point if you are using a pressure washer this is at a much higher pressure than rain and very few wellingtons can withstand this.

Please note that some Cofra products may have a 7-10 day lead time to delivery
